生於湖南，年僅32歲的藝術家畢業於中央美院中國化學院，以嶄新的水墨創作在藝壇中受到觀注；在香港巴塞爾藝術展期間，佳士得所舉辦的中國當代水墨座談會，由亞洲藝術文獻庫（AAA）亞洲藝術檔案館主管亞歷山大．塞諾主持，即邀請了周名德與香港資深藝術家張雅燕、香港新水墨派藝術家韋邦雨進行對談。以一系列山水為題材的作品，可見淡描、積染、層疊、留白等純熟技法充分展現了藝術家的功力，但畫面構圖卻全然顛覆了觀者預期的想望，也勾起想一揭此山究竟為何山的真面目。

Born in Hunan, the 32-year-old artist graduated from School of CAFA, Central Academy of Fine Arts and received new attention in ink painting in the art world. During the Art Basel Exhibition in Hong Kong, Christie’s China Contemporary Ink Painting Symposium was hosted by the supervisor of Asian Art Archives (AAA) to invite Zhou Mingde to chat with Hong Kong senior artist Zhang Yayan and Hong Kong's new ink artist Wei Bangyu. For a series of landscape-oriented works, it can be seen that the skillful techniques of light painting, accumulated dying, stacking, and whitening fully demonstrate the skill of the artist. However, the composition of the picture completely subverts the viewer’s expectations, and it also reminds me of why the mountain really looks like a mountain.
